#CreativeHealing Tips: Sadness

It's pulling at your entrails and yanking the soft tissues inside your head, so tenaciously you want to cry. You want all the tears to run and be done but it resolves nothing. The tear-ducts are all jaded while you are fading and doleful, inside. You sense your human capacity to feel the joy in your heart slipping. FAST!

It feels like a circle of something sinister. Even though the sun is blazing, you can't feel it on your skin. And it has long ceased, the effortless spreading of your facial skin that often welcomes the new day. The night itself no longer looks at you the same, is as if you've stolen its soul and kept it trapped inside your gut.

You want none of it. You so want to puke out the soul of the night, because that darkness does not belong inside of you. But it's stuck in your throat. In you. And you have long become disempowered that letting the sadness flow through you feels like you are caving in deeper.

Sadness can feel like an imprisonment of self within the self; a bottomless hole of nothingness. Whether the reason is known or not, it only matters that we get back our happiness or that we can even feel its fading garment blown across our eager face by the howling wind.

Our feelings like our thoughts are a part of the total energy that makes up our human DNA. And more often than not, we resist anything that goes against what gives us pleasure or make us happy. For many, our pain threshold is no threshold because it is nonexistent.

So when sadness gnaws at our entrails and we have no reason for why we feel like the sun will not rise again, we struggle to find a reason. And when a reason presents itself, sometimes our suffering just intensifies because we only build a castle for it and make it our lifelong emperor. We can however, love the sadness like a patient we are tending with love, Job did it and succeeded.

By stopping our resistance to heal and letting our autonomic nervous system pave way to release, we can set sadness free. Ekchart Tolle in the Power of Now recounts how he broke free of almost three decades of depression when he stopped fighting and welcomed presencing.

Being in the present allows us be mindful of the Now. It redirects our attention to the breezing air and beaming sun or the wintery gale, all for what they are without resistance, or judgment. Remember, to paraphrase Wayne Dyer "when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at automatically change". Jon Kabat-Zinn Mindfulness Training encourages us to bring our attention to the present moment. You can do this by a number of techniques, which includes meditation, and conscious breathing. You can also find a project like Prof. Wangari Maathai to make a meaning by planting a tree.
