#CreativeHealing Tips: Fear

The eerie feeling at your rear is sending all sort of uneasiness down your spine. You want to scream but are gagged with terror. You so want to flee but your feet are paralysed and the shadow of the monster towering above you is too menacing, for you to lift a finger. It is death. You are staring him in the eyes and the cascading fluid deluging your skin is forming an ominous puddle, so big it will form a sizeable lake in no time. Your time is running out, the consternation has now consumed all of you and you feel it simmering… the rocket explosions emanating from your innards. You now know fear by affiliation as the incapacitating venom that has brought you face-to-face with Thanatos.

But, fear can be real or imagined. It can be a natural response to actual danger where your adrenaline reacts with fight or flight mechanism through your sympathetic nervous system (SNS) coordinate. Or it can be totally imagined as a mind and emotional spoof, where you react to no actual danger, which further confuses your parasympathetic nervous system about when to rest or digest your food.

The dynasty of our phobia, horror, doubts and constant trepidation can be built upon imaginary danger. It might be a physical or emotional paranoia such as agoraphobia, acrophobia, aviaphobia and claustrophobia. The fear can be of a totally different nature as well, such as fear of failure, fear of intimacy or fear of living. Our fear can debilitate us to the extent that we develop anxiety disorders, psychosomatic illnesses, which can render us immobile or sedentary. We may acquire Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) as a result. No matter the manifestation of our internal doubt, which might have stemmed from our childhood trauma or other life shocking episodes or nerve-wrecking human disunity and dysfunctional systems, we have to set ourselves free and sleep easy at night.

Aside from the actual fear, where we need to run for our lives or fight for survival; a task that our immune system does well if not fragmented. For example watch how an impala that escapes being a prey to a leopard shakes it out immediately before moving on. It is an instant release that the nervous system is capable of handling.

Perhaps, the biggest viscera fear stems from somewhere else? The future terrifies you? You worry about death and dying? Or you just have uncanny raw apprehensions about everything and nothing?  Whatever we figure out or not figure out in relation to our fear, we can choose to "Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise" ~ Uplifting Content.

I am not going to go the root of the pop psychology and say it is in your head, but instead, invite you to take the summation of neuropsychologist Mario Martinez and say it is now a biocognitionchallenge (a mind and body affliction). And you are capable of reprogramming your mind and body language to rise above your fears.

You can be practical about setting your fear free through artistic expressions, presencing, meditation, or Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE), healing dances (such as Biodanza, En-Trance or African/Shamanic Dances) or just breathe as you remind yourself that “this too shall pass”.
